The purpose of the Volunteer Program is to provide an opportunity to extend library services in the community through the involvement of citizens who have an active interest in helping the Library. The Volunteer Programs seeks to provide opportunities for volunteers to make a meaningful contribution to the operation of the library; build public awareness of the services provided by the Library; develop closer ties to the community served and increase the effectiveness of paid staff.
What We Do
The Townsend Public Library serves as a community gateway where people can connect socially and intellectually. It provides people of all ages with equal access to quality collections, services, and programs for information, life long learning, literature and entertainment. The "new" Townsend Public Library, dedicated to Richard & Irene Collete, was offically dedicated and opened on October 31, 2009. The Library, Meeting Hall, and Senior Center were gifted to the town by the Sterilite Corporation.
