The Village School

The Village School is an independent school serving children in preschool, kindergarten, and grades 1-6, in north central Massachusetts, offering a unique curriculum based on challenging hands on academics, direct contact with the natural world, and kindness. The Village School also offers after school and summer programs for the local community.

The Village School?s mission is to create an educational model for children in rural areas, based on the principle that a direct connection to nature can be a lifeline for children, connecting them to their essential selves and awakening a sense of meaning in their lives. The Village School was founded in 1989 by local parents, starting as a preschool, and adding grades until 2000, when it became a full elementary school for preschool through the 6th grade. Located on Royalston common, it serves over 12 towns in the surrounding area.
