Office Of Emergency Management

Our volunteers help our community in several ways. We offer services at no charge to the public and assist with our Public Departments or Public events throughout the City of Leominster. These are the following Units/Programs that we currently use. ReHab-Assists area Fire Departments on scene with providing food/water. Communications- Assist with Radio communications through out the Office of Emergency Management(OEM) and during events. EMS- Provides First Aid/Medical Service to local events. Rescue Support- Provides assistance with pump calls to homes flooded and will clear debris in wind events. Aux. Police- Assists the local Police Department. Divers Unit- Provides assistance in body recovery for all of Massachusetts. Neighborhood Watch Program- Patrols neighborhoods to deter crime and assist in minor calls. Administrative Unit- Provide assistance in the development of guidelines/procedures, marketing and public awareness, other projects that may be needed. Sheltering Unit- This is a Reserve Unit that meets four times a year. You will be trained on setting up and working at a shelter. Logistic's Unit- Help in the organizing of supplies and delivering resources.

To provide a well organized, trained, uniformed and properly equipped group of volunteers who can provide a cadre of different support services to augment our full-time public safety professionals during times of emergency or disaster. The OEM has been located at our current address for about 12 years. The volunteers have spent a tremendous amount of hours renovating the building to the state it is in. There are still many other projects through out that need to be addressed.
