Description

This project will create the new trail from the top of North Monoosnoc Hill down to Mt. Elam Road.  Specifically, this will be a single-track, natural surface pedestrian trail primarily for hikers and mt. bike users.  It will be about .6 miles in length and will start just south of trail intersection #30 and end at Mt. Elam road.  Participants will use lopping shears, hand pruners, hand pruning saws, rakes, rogue hoes and rock bars to cut and clear a 6’ wide trail corridor and a 24” trail tread.  Additionally, participants will blaze the trail in both directions so users will have assurance that they are on the trail.  Participants will meet at the parking area inside the pipe gate and divide into small groups to work on sections of the trail until the work is complete.  Completion of this trail segment will create another high-quality, sustainable trail loop in the system that offers increased benefits to hikers and bikers while minimally impacting the watershed area.  LTS will organize and supervise the work while also providing the tools for the project.
