Montachusett Opportunity Council, Inc.
The Montachusett Opportunity Council, Inc. was established in 1966 for the primary purpose of promoting the well being of low-income people in the cities and towns of North Central Massachusetts. The MOC service area encompasses 30 cities and towns, 15 of which are community action agency designated cities or towns. MOC provides programming and resources in three service areas: Child Care & Head Start, Housing & Community, and Nutrition & Wellness. Specific programs and resources include: Head Start, child care, and preschool services; weatherization, lead removal and elder home repair programs; financial, adult, and workplace education opportunities; asset development opportunities; homelessness prevention and re-housing services; community health education, family planning, and AIDS care services; meals on wheels, home delivered meals, and food pantry services; and case management services.
The Montachusett Opportunity Council's mission is to alleviate poverty and create healthy communities by providing services and coordinating community resources that promote self-sufficiency and advocating for social change.
