GAAMHA has been providing quality human services to adults with developmental disabilities since 1967. It is our goal to provide a safe, pro-social work and enrichment environment for every single individual we serve. Our services center around the individual: around their abilities, interests and goals. Individuals entering our programming take work and interest assessments that work in conjunction with their ISP goals to create a person centered plan. We provide; Community Based Day Services, Group Supported Employment, Individual Community Job Placement and School to Community Programs.
Since 1972 GAAMHA has been providing services to people with substance use disorders and has helped guide thousands of people into recovery. GAAMHA owns and operates Pathway House, a residential substance abuse program, and Pathway House Supportive Housing, which provides transitional sober housing to men who have completed residential treatment and are looking make a gradual return to independent living. Both programs feature a professional staff who combine their education and personal recovery experience to create an environment that nurtures and promotes growth while requiring each client to take ownership and responsibility for their own recovery. Our programs feature: Customized individual treatment plans for each client, Individual counseling and case management services, A.W.O.L. 12-step program, Group sessions, Extensive classroom education in substance use and addiction, Relapse prevention education, Tobacco education and treatment by on-staff Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
The mission of GAAMHA, Inc. is to provide meaningful support, training, treatment, avenues to employment, and personalized opportunities to individuals with disabilities and substance use disorders; and to offer quality transportation services to the people who live in the communities we serve. GAAMHA was established in 1967 with the sole purpose of providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities in the greater Gardner area. The program at that time was located in the former Gardner State Hospital. In 1972 GAAMHA began providing residential treatment for substance abusing men through the Pathway House program. Several years later in 1985 GAAMHA Transit was established to provide transportation services to the individuals served at the GAAMHA site. In 1987 GAAMHA and GAAMHA Transit merged creating the transportation department. Finally, in 2000, we incorporated Coleman Assembly & Packaging an innovative social business providing full-service assembly and packaging services. Since 1987 our corporate headquarters have been located at 208 Coleman St. Ext., Gardner, MA. This 50,000+ sq. ft., multi-purpose facility is the home of day program for individuals with disabilities, transportation, Coleman Assembly & Packaging and our administrative offices. GAAMHA strives to provide exceptional services and be active in the communities we serve. GAAMHA is a provider of services to the following Massachusetts agencies and businesses: The Department of Developmental Services, The Department of Public Health, Various local school special education departments and other agencies and businesses.
