Fitchburg Longsjo Classic

Who We Are

The Fitchburg Longsjo Classic is hosted by the Art Longsjo Foundation, a non-profit organization run by volunteers, who donate enormous effort and endless hours simply for the love of the race. From the core race committee to course marshals to set-up and clean-up crews, we are dependent on the talent and energy of these individual volunteers to successfully run the race. Over the many years, the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic has developed a reputation as an excellent, well-run event characterized by an extraordinarily warm community welcome.

What We Do

The Art Longsjo Foundation exists to preserve the recreation and sport of cycling including the Longsjo Classic Bike Race and to advance the social, physical, and mental development skills associated with cycling. The race currently known as the Fitchburg-Longsjo Classic was first held in 1960 as the Fitchburg-Longsjo Memorial Race. It was renamed by the USCF in 1980, and is one of the few races in the country to be designated as a "classic." The first race was organized by Guy Morin as a memorial to his teammate Art Longsjo, along with local officials.
